To compare horse floats fairly, compare like with like. Start with the layout and size your horses need, then check every brand on the same five things: real tare weight, warranty and how claims are handled, what's included in the price, build quality, and after-sales support. Get each quote as a drive-away price, test tow before you buy, and ask other owners about their experience. Buying from people who ride and know floats makes the whole process simpler.
In this guide11 sections
G'day, Wes here. There are plenty of horse floats for sale across Australia, and from the outside a lot of them look alike. That makes comparing them hard. This guide gives you a simple way to compare any horse float brand side by side, including ours, so you can choose with confidence.
Start with your horses
Before you compare brands, get clear on what you need. It narrows the field fast.
- How many horses? A 2 horse float or a 3 horse float. Buy for the most you'll regularly carry.
- How big are they? Compare bay length and internal height, not just "suits horses up to 17hh".
- Straight load or angle load? Straight loads are lighter and cost less. Angle loads have longer bays. Compare straight and angle loads
- Day trips or nights away? A standard float, a camper horse float with 240V power and a fridge, or a horse float with living quarters.
- What will you tow with? Your vehicle's towing capacity and GCM set your limit.
Compare like with like
The most common mistake is comparing a basic model from one brand with a fully loaded model from another. Line up floats with:
- The same layout and number of horses
- Similar bay sizes
- The same package: standard, camper or living
- The same extras included
Then compare price, weight, warranty and build.
Check 1: Real tare weight
Tare is what the float weighs empty. It decides whether your vehicle can legally and safely tow it once your horses, water and gear are on. If the tare is understated, you could be over your ATM or your vehicle's GCM without knowing, which is unsafe, illegal and can affect your insurance.
- Ask if the tare on the compliance plate is the float's actual weight, as built.
- Ask if it includes the options and upgrades on that float.
- If a bigger float built from the same materials claims to be lighter, ask why.
- Ask to see it weighed on a weighbridge.
At EuroFloat, our tare weights are correct, and we're happy to put any float on a weighbridge. Read about ATM and GCM
Check 2: Warranty and claims
- What does the warranty cover, and for how long?
- What's excluded?
- How do you make a claim, and how fast do they respond?
- Who does the repairs, and where?
- What servicing do you need to keep it valid?
Then ask other owners how their claims were handled. Pony Club, shows and Google reviews are great places to ask. For reference, every new EuroFloat has a 2-Year Warranty on the chassis, body frame, roof frame and suspension, plus an 11-Year Aluminium Flooring System warranty. Conditions apply. Read our warranty guide
Check 3: What's in the price
Advertised prices aren't always comparable. Ask every seller for a drive-away price, and check whether these are included or extra:
- Breakaway safety unit
- Floor type and its warranty
- Escape door, tack room fit-out and saddle racks
- Padding, windows and ventilation
- 240V power, fridge and microwave, if it's a camper float
- Delivery to your area
- Registration
We put everything on one quote at EuroFloat, and many items that are extras elsewhere are standard on ours. See EuroFloat prices explained
Check 4: Build quality
- Is the model engineer certified and approved for Australian roads?
- What's the floor made of? Timber can rot; aluminium doesn't.
- What are the walls, paint and hardware made of?
- Who installed the 240V power, and are they licensed?
- Is there a quality check on every float?
Look underneath, open every door, and lift the ramp yourself. See how a EuroFloat is built
Check 5: Support after you buy
- Is there a showroom or service centre you can visit?
- Where can you get it serviced or repaired if something happens on the road?
- Can you get parts easily?
- Is the business Australian owned and here for the long haul?

Buying should be simple
A horse float is a big purchase, but buying one shouldn't be complicated. Look for a seller who makes it easy:
- Clear prices online, and one quote with everything on it
- Floats in stock you can see and tow
- A simple, refundable deposit
- Delivery quoted to your door, wherever you are in Australia
- Finance options if you need them
At EuroFloat, a $1,000 fully refundable deposit secures your float, the balance is due within 30 days, and in-stock floats are usually ready within a week or two. We deliver Australia wide, and finance is available through iCREDIT. See how to buy
Buy from people who ride
It makes a real difference when the people selling you a float actually ride, load and tow horses themselves. They'll ask about your horses, not just your budget, and they'll tell you straight if a float isn't right for you.
Our team at EuroFloat are riders and horse float professionals. We've been selling horse floats in Australia since 2014, and today over 350 horse owners a year buy a EuroFloat from us, from Pony Club families to competition riders. We'd love you to compare us with anyone, and we're confident in how we stack up.

Questions buyers ask
How do I compare horse floats?
Compare like with like: the same layout, size and inclusions. Then check each float's real tare weight, warranty, drive-away price, build quality and after-sales support.
What should I ask a horse float seller?
Ask for the actual tare weight, a drive-away price with everything included, what the warranty covers and how claims work, and where you can get it serviced or repaired.
Why do tare weights matter?
Tare weight decides whether your vehicle can legally and safely tow the float once it's loaded. An understated tare can put you over your ATM or GCM without knowing.
Can I test tow a float before I buy?
You should. At EuroFloat you can test drive a float behind your own vehicle at our Gold Coast or Melbourne showroom.
Do you deliver horse floats Australia wide?
Yes. EuroFloat delivers Australia wide, and we include delivery on your quote. You can also collect from our Gold Coast or Melbourne showroom.
